Blackjack Strategies

Blackjack is one of the most popular table games in the casinos. It is that type of the game, which is not based on luck and fortune mood. It is all about math, logic thinking but a bit of luck too. The professional players agree that fortune also matter but it does not prevail over your knowledge or/and skills.

Blackjack Basic Strategy

All the blackjack strategies are based on the only one. It is called Blackjack Basic Strategy. If you learn it, you will be able to play any variation of the game. It concerns the hands that you have. Those can be either soft or hard. And also the dealer's hand is taken into account. All your further moves should depend on what you and the dealer have got.

Soft Hand

There are different cards dealt to the player's hands. If you receive an Ace and you decide to count it as 11, it means that you have a soft hand. There are different blackjack variations, in which the dealer has to stand on soft 17 (Ace + 6), there are some, when the dealer has to hit on soft 17.

If you have a soft 19, 20 or 21, you should always stand. The thing is that you are not able to improve natural 21, you'll just bust. You have the best odds, why should you spoil the entire round?

Hard Hand

Hard hand is the one, where Ace has value of 1 point. It can be any combination of the cards. It is also the hand, which includes Ace and it is counted as 1 point. For example, if you have hard 11 but the dealer shows an Ace, you must hit. If a dealer does not have an Ace, you are to double down, if he has 2 up to 10.

Splitting Pairs

There are many interesting rules, which concern splitting the hands in blackjack. Splitting means that you have two cards of the same value and you want to start a new hand that is why you divide pair of cards with similar ranks. For example, you have a pair of Aces. According to the Basic Strategy you are to split them always. It has to be done, as around 30 percent of the cards, which make a bet, make 10 points each. And that is how you increase your odds of hitting other two cards of 10 points each. Therefore, you have better chances to beat the dealer.

At the same time if you have a pair of the face cards, you should not split them, as they already make a winning combination. They have 20 points in total.
